Miss Hector's 1st litter - born 5/6/09.
Basically, she's a very melanistic lady and has been since I bought her as a yearling back in 2002.
She has always been black and silver with the only red scales being a handful scattered throughout her tail being black at
their base and burnt orange at the tops, with the last 3 segments of her tail having no red scales and being pitch black just
like a type II anery.
The interesting part is, I bred her to my male type II anery (Ash) and got 5, large, healthy baby boys
from her 1st ever litter and they ALL exhibit the same tails that mom has for the last few segments of their tails.
A couple of my hold backs show this for the last 5+ segments of their tails.
I find it fascinating since they look like
very pretty, normal nicaraguan babies, but their normal tails transition to look just like mom's. What are the odds
of that? I have NO idea. It could be nothing special and they could just have a very attractive appearance with
being 100% het type II from their dad. But, only breeding one of her sons back will let me know if Miss Hector potentially
has something special in her genetics, or if she's just a sexy lady. :)
So let me make this perfectly clear...again, I am NOT going to sell these as a new morph or het for
anything crazy...I'm selling them for what I only know they are...very attractive 100% het type II anery nicaraguans that
have been handled since birth and are bigger than my yearling nicaraguans already. So they are healthy, big, lovely
babies. IF something proves out later, then anyone who bought them will have gotten a great deal on something special,
otherwise, they are special just for being what they are. :)
I have 3 left and they are all holdbacks for now. I have paired up 2 of the sons with Miss
Hector so hopefully we'll get another litter come spring!
Thus far, the male below with the awesome circleback pattern is courting her from the moment I put
her in there. So, that's good news already!
We'll see! If I get a successful litter and even one baby comes out looking like Miss Hector, that
would rule! If not, then I'll know she isn't any sort of special morph in her own right, just a nice, dark, pretty lady that
throws gorgeous, large babies. :) Either way, fun!
UPDATE 8/18/11: Now that her sons are all over 2yrs old I held back one for breeding
and sold the rest. The best, biggest male is the one with the nice circleback pattern and the only one that jumped immediately
on her for courtship. We'll see if this effort proves fruitful and we get another litter from her. If so, she'll
either have more glorious, handsome babies like these, or if I'm super lucky, she'll at least have one that looks like her
(completely melanistic with a few half burnt orange/ half black tail scales). :D Crossing my fingers!
